THE WORLD OF DEVOTOR

A world forgotten by the gods. A curse that refuses to die.

01 The Fall of Rovenne

From the edge of the known world, a Colossus emerged.

It stood between earth and sky, and with every step, the land trembled. Neither steel nor sorcery could halt its march toward the heart of the Vesperian Empire. Upon the plains of Rovenne, beneath the shadow of the Empire's enchanted wall, the mightiest Devotors gathered for one final stand.

There, they offered their lives and bound their powers as one.

And the Colossus fell. Yet death was not the end.

With its dying breath, the beast unleashed a final curse. Its flesh burst asunder, raining blood and bone upon the kingdom. Mountains shattered, cities vanished, and the once-prosperous Rovenne was reduced to ruin.

Even the Empire's enchanted wall was scarred by the falling remains.

From the scattered flesh, corruption took root. It consumed the fallen kingdom, twisted the living, and crept ever closer to the Empire's borders.

And so, generation after generation, the Devotors are sent into Rovenne, to reclaim a land that may never be cleansed.

The Colossus is dead. Rovenne would never be the same.

02 The Devotors

Their power is borrowed. Their humanity, slowly surrendered.

Warriors of extraordinary might, the Devotors are bound by ancient pacts with the Old Gods. In exchange for power beyond mortal limits, they bear mutations that slowly consume their bodies and minds.

Only twenty-four Devotors may exist in any given age, each bound to one of the twenty-four Greater Arcana.

Every invocation tightens the curse's grasp, drawing them closer to the monstrous fate they are destined to face. Before their humanity is lost entirely, they must fulfill their purpose and willingly end their own lives, lest they become the very horrors they were sworn to destroy.

Yet death does not claim everything.

At the moment of their becoming, each Devotor anchors a fragment of their humanity: a memory, a conviction, or a bond that defines who they are. Upon their death, this fragment endures as a sacred relic known as an Anchor, preserving the power and lingering will of its former bearer. Inherited by those who follow, these relics carry the echoes of lives long extinguished.

Now, five Devotors are sent into the forsaken kingdom of Rovenne, tasked with uncovering its buried truths and cleansing the corruption threatening the Empire.

Their lives are borrowed. Their power is cursed. Their fate is sealed.
